Wine Wilfersdorf

Grüner Veltliner Weinviertel DAC 2019

Clos Domaine

100% Grüner Veltliner / Alcohol: 12,9 %

The variety is a natural offspring of Traminer and St. Georgen. Grüner Veltliner is the most important autochthonous grape variety in Austria and widely planted in Lower Austria and Burgenland. It is a fertile variety that needs yield regulation and grows extremely well in deep loess soils but does not like dryness. Over the last years, Grüner Veltliner has achieved worldwide awareness as a fruity, enjoyable variety.

DAC stands for „Districtus Austriae Controllatus” and is subject to strict regulation. The wine has to be typical to the variety and has to come strictly from the Weinviertel. The main characteristics of this wine are spicy – peppery flavours that are very elegant and well balanced with plenty of finesse.

Harvested at warm and sunny weather. Grapes had 19,5° KMW (Klosterneuburg must weight scale). Grapes were destemmed and no must fermentation, they were directly pressed in a pneumatic tank and fermentation at 21°C and for 1 month on fine yeast. Storage in stainless steel tank.

Bright yellow-green, silver shines. Delicate floral highlights of white peach fruit, a hint of blossom honey and orange blossom. A tight-knit palate, fine white tropical fruit, pleasant acidity, fine fruit sweetness on the finish, good balance, lemony touch on the finish, lively and fresh, definite aging potential.

Shinny light yellow colour with green reflex, citrus, apple, floral tones, white pepper, with elegant spicy flavour – typical for variety.
